Spacious shared two-bedroom in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn
The apartment is on the 1st floor, with a large shared living room + kitchen, and two bedrooms on opposite ends of the unit. Each room has its own air-conditioning unit and large windows and plenty of natural light-- the living room faces West, and... the available bedroom faces South. It looks out onto Lenox Road, but is set back from the road and sidewalk. The bedrooms have a LOT of closet space by NYC standards, and are equally sized. My room currently has a queen-sized bed, large desk+chair setup, bookcase, dresser, and still has enough empty floor space to comfortably do yoga/stretching/exercise.
The living room is already furnished with a carpet, couch, coffee table, coffee machine, shoe-rack, curtains and some plants, and I'm open to modify things to fit both our tastes. The kitchen has cooking utensils and a collection of teas and spices that you are welcome to use and add to.
The building is 6 floors and has a rooftop with nice views, and there are laundry machines in the basement. The amenities are all new and well-maintained, common spaces are cleaned regularly, and the management has always been responsive to issues/requests.
Commute: The Parkside Avenue (Q) and Church Avenue (B,Q) are both a 15-min walk away, and Winthrop street (2,5) is a 10-min walk away. Commuting to the Washington Sq campus takes on average 45 minutes including all the walking. Prospect Park is a 15-minute walk away and is truly one of the highlights of living here; its huge and green and beautiful.
The neighborhood is vibrant with lots of great Caribbean restaurants, multiple grocery stores, coffee shops, and bodegas within easy walking distance, and is super diverse. Things can get a bit loud on some summer evenings when people are out on the streets and playing music, but apart from that there isn't too much traffic noise; it's not a busy street. I've been out on the streets at all hours and have never felt unsafe.
