Big Sunny Room, Shared Two-bedroom Coop

Bedroom in a shared apartment, 3rd floor of a walkup coop, best for one person, comfortable and clean. Start date potentially flexible.

Your room: 12x15, w/ 6-ft wide closet, 9-ft ceilings, wood floor, two windows, radiator, new a/c.

Light: Faces...
west across Ocean Parkway, with lots of sun and some traffic noise. Shared LR and bath face east, kitchen faces north.

Shared spaces:
Kitchen: Small washer and dryer, new fridge, gas stove, cabinet space.
Bathroom: Full-size tub w/ new shower.
Living room: Couch. No decor or tv, intentionally minimal.
Dining room: Light wood table and chairs.
Closet space outside the bedroom: Half the hanger-rod in the coat closet.

Building: Family-oriented walkup coop (*walkup = no elevator, 3rd floor). Diverse, lgbt friendly. Front yard, courtyard, and some raised beds. Laundry room and bike storage.

Neighborhood: There are coffee, laundry, deli/grocery, pizza parlor and Chinese takeout on the block. Within 10 minutes there’s a bigger grocery store, a small food coop, a hardware store, bars, restaurants, bookstore, WT public library, Prospect Park.

Transit: The F/G is 0.3 miles, B/D 0.7 miles. The B35, B103, and Manhattan express buses stop at the corner. There are two citibike racks on the block.

About us: Family of 4 using this as an extension of another apartment in the building. We come and go for laundry, kitchen, bath, remote work, quiet time, etc. None of us live full-time in the apartment, but the adults aspire to spend weekends there. Overeducated, underslept, artsy, basic.

About you: Ideally you are ok collaborating on cleaning and maintenance, more than ok with kids (adolescent), and comfortable in a household ecosystem, even just as a satellite.

Guests: Having friends over, totally possible. Loudness or parties or hookups, impossible.

Pets: Dogs possible. Cats impossible.

Rent / deposit: 1500

Utilities: Have been averaging below 75/mo, includes fios.

Lease: Annual, with no hard stop on renewals if everyone’s happy.

Applying: If you come by and everyone is interested, meet the kids. If everyone’s still interested, the coop building's application asks for taxes, bank statements, proof of income, two recommendation letters. No fees, and no board interview necessary.
