Bedroom in top-floor duplex with patio!
I am looking for someone to occupy the second bedroom of my wonderful 2 bedroom duplex with a rooftop. It is a sunny top floor apartment- the shared living area, as well as the private rooftop patio, are accessible via a spiral staircase from the... kitchen! The indoor living space upstairs was being used by the previous tenants as a home office/ art studio.
I'm a PhD student at NYU, which keeps me very busy! I don't spend a lot of time home, but I very much value having a beautiful and clean home to come back to. Another grad student may be the best match, but I'm open to anyone who is communicative, tidy and amiable! It is a 5th floor walkup, there are only 2 other units on the floor, and of course, no upstairs neighbors! The location is excellent, a block off of Tompkins Square park, and the heart of East Village. I lived previously just a few blocks away, and can personally attest that the commute is a pleasant 20-25 minutes on foot to Washington square. There is an excellent laundromat and wash & fold service just a few doors down.
The two bedrooms, the bathroom, and the kitchen occupy the main level. The shared living space is upstairs. The kitchen has a gas stove and oven, and full sized fridge. There is room for a dining nook in the kitchen, under a pleasant window.
The second bedroom is the smaller of the two, fitting a twin bed with other furnishings. I am unsure of the exact measurements- a larger bed may be possible, but it was not furnished this way when I toured, so I cannot guarantee that a larger bed frame would fit, nor how much room would be left. It has two windows facing the inner lightwell, and as the unit is top-floor, gets quite nice (though indirect most of the day) light. It has a closet. I am happy to negotiate providing basic furnishings.
The unit is currently occupied so I am unable to provide current photos, but I can provide a similar floorplan and photos of other units in the building for reference if you are interested!
Each person on the lease must qualify on their own, even though the rent will be split. So, your personal guarantor must be able to cover 80x the total monthly rent ($3700). For more details on what counts towards qualifying, please ask, I'm happy to explain the details!
